KENSINGTON!
Welcome to Kensington! Established in 1894, this historic, sought after town, perfectly situated between Silver Spring and Bethesda, is known for its notable Victorian architecture and scenic parkland. Wide open green space, beautiful homes and great schools are just a few of the reasons people line up to live here.
The area around Rock Creek basin, where Kensington is located, was primarily agricultural until 1873. It became a summer refuge for Washington D.C. residents and eventually evolved into a commuter suburb. The large southern most section remains largely unchanged and is a historically preserved zone.
One-half mile from town is an entrance into Rock Creek Regional Park, where hiking, jogging and biking can be enjoyed along scenic Beach Drive. There are seven parks filled with nature trees, gardens, landscaping, fountains and picnic tables, as well as several Montgomery County Parks.

Kensington offers a diverse array of shops, galleries and cafes. Antique Row on Howard Avenue offers antique shops, vintage book stores, florists and gifts.
There is a wide range of dining options from coffee shops to bakeries, and pizzerias to cafe dining.
Every Saturday is the Kensington Farmer's Market. Held at the historic train station, it offers seasonal produce, seafood, meat, plants and flowers from small regional farmers. Other specialties include artisan breads, jams, olive oil, chocolates and much more.
Art galleries feature local artists offering fine art, metal works and more. The Kensington Arts Theater showcases live theater musical performances at the Kensington Town Center and the Festival of Lights runs annually at the Mormon Temple.

The Kensington Historical Society offers tours that take you through neighborhoods filled with history and exquisite architecture. You can see beautiful Victorian homes and cottages as well as a historic one-room library and the still operating B&O Railroad Station - built in 1891. The tour wouldn't be complete without a stroll around Warner Circle, a 1890s Victorian mansion situated on 4 1/2 acres of lawns and mature trees.
Kensington is just minutes to downtown Bethesda and extremely accessible to Washington DC via the MARC Train at Kensington Station, which is part of the Brunswick Line - located at located at 10417 Howard Avenue.
