Bethesda is the closest neighbor to both and serves as a mecca for shopping and dining, including the Friendship Heights area of Chevy Chase, which contains the “Rodeo Drive of the East” with high end stores and increasingly upscale high rise development.
Chevy Chase is also adjacent to the famous Rock Creek Park - a nature filled wonderland popular with outdoor enthusiasts. Enjoy acres of lush woods, ride your bike along Beach Drive while taking in the scenery of flowering trees, a bubbling creek and landscaped gardens. Community recreation also includes The Chevy Chase Recreation Association - a non-profit community club that offers swimming and tennis; The Rock Creek Pool - offering memberships for up to 400 families; Chevy Chase Country Club & Columbia Country Club - both serving as wonderful locations for business and social gatherings including golf, tennis and activities for families.
There are a number of small shopping communities including family owned supermarkets, pharmacies, coffee shops, hair salons, dry cleaners, hardware stores, bagel shops, clothing stores, and more.
The Village of Friendship Heights is a 34-acre community comprised mostly of high-rise residential buildings, fine dining and high-end shopping. Situated just over the line of the district, its boundaries are Wisconsin Avenue, Willard Avenue, and Somerset Terrace. Found here are many department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Tiffany, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. There are numerous boutiques, day spas, and other services that provide the ultimate shopping and dining experience.
The Village also has a free shuttle bus (that stops at every residential building) and connects residents with Metrorail, Metrobuses, and Ride-On bus routes. The Friendship Heights Station on the Red Line of the Metro serves the area, and the station is also a major connection for area bus services.

High Schools 9-12
Bethesda-Chevy Chase, Walter Johnson, are the home base high schools for the Kensington neighborhoods of 20895. Albert Einstein is part of the Downcounty Consortium High School Cluster (DCC), which also includes Montgomery Blair, John F Kennedy, Northwood, and Wheaton . In grade 8, each student in the DCC has the opportunity to participate in the High School Choice Process where he or she can apply to a high school other than his or her base area school. Each high school in the cluster offers distinctive academy programs and course work.
